Gestern wurde der Start, bei dem auch der Deutsche Thomas Reiter dabei ist, leider abgesagt. Neuer Starttermin ist heute abend um 21.26.
Ansonsten ist noch jeden Tag ein Startfenster bis 19. Juli

Atlantis Postponed As Ernesto Nears
NASA is preparing to roll Atlantis off its launch pad and back inside the protection of the Vehicle Assembly Building Tuesday morning to protect it from the winds of Tropical Storm Ernesto. Mission managers are still maintaining the option to leave Atlantis at the pad in the unlikely event the storm changes.
NASA's launch window extends to Sept. 13, but mission managers were hoping to launch by Sept. 7 to avoid a conflict with a Russian Soyuz rocket also bound for the International Space Station. Officials are talking with our Russian partners about the issue. Atlantis would require eight days of launch preparations once it was returned to Launch Pad 39B. |

NASA officials have set the next launch attempt for 8:47 p.m. EST on Dec. 9. Shuttle weather forecasters expect the cold front to still be over Florida for Saturday's launch, limiting chances for liftoff to 30 percent.

Nochmals danke, Ara, waren heute Morgen denkwürdige Minuten für mich. Noch nie habe ich live einem Start beigewohnt. Ich kannt ebisher nur die 20 sec. Beiträge in den Tagesthemen.  |

Heute abend um 21.56 Uhr (Touchdown) soll die Discovery in Florida landen. Sollte es nicht gehen kann sie auch auf Edwards Air Force Base in Kalifornien oder White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico ausweichen. Der Wiedereintritt wird schon einige Zeit vorher stattfinden. An Bord ist der deutsche Astronaut Thomas Reiter. Live kommt es z.B. in CNN oder ausführlich im Nasa TV

gleich tritt das Space Shuttle in die Erdatmosphäre ein, es wird evtl. riskant da die NASA beschlossen hat, die Stelle an der Unterseite der Endeavour, die beim Start beschädigt wurde, nicht zu reparieren und den Wiedereintritt so zu versuchen.
